NET 216 - Open‐Source Net Infrastructure 3 cr. Students learn how to set up and manage a network infrastructure with FreeBSD. FreeBSD is a powerful, flexible, and cost‐effective UNIX‐based operating system, and the preferred server platform for many enterprises. This class also includes coverage of installation, networking, add‐on software, security, network services, system performance, kernel tweaking, file systems, SAMBA, Apache, upgrading, monitoring, crash debugging, BSD in the office, and emulating other Operating Systems. Students will learn how to configure a FreeBSD‐based server as a firewall, a DHCP server, a DNS server, a file server, and a web server. Prerequisite: NET 102 or by advisement. Spring
