ECO 171 - Honors Macroeconomics 3 cr.

Students are introduced to foundational economic concepts such as scarcity and the law of supply and demand and their application to a market economy. Other topics include money, banking and monetary policy, national income determination and fiscal policy, macroeconomic policy, the problems of inflation and unemployment, and economic growth. In this honors class, students will synthesize the topics and critically think how economic policy is derived from economic theory. They will analyze the success or failure of historical implementation of the studied policies. Prerequisite: MAT 100 or high school Mathematics Course II or by advisement.
