Continuing Education/ Noncredit Offerings


Office of Continuing and Professional Education

SUNY Ulster’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education provides a diverse portfolio of non-credit courses offered throughout the academic year. Many of these courses feature pathways to credit-bearing programs and some confer industry-recognized credentials. These programs are designed to support students in achieving their professional aspirations. Key areas of study include Advanced Manufacturing, Building Science and Energy Efficiency, CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor), Cut and Sew, Healthcare, and Water and Wastewater Management.

For those that need a GED before beginning career training, GED prep programs are offered throughout the year. Students are given the option to enroll in morning or evening classes, as well as online classes.

For business professionals, the Office of Continuing and Professional Education offers specialized training in management, safety and computer skills. Furthermore, the institution provides opportunities for professional licensure and recertification across various fields. SUNY Ulster is a recognized provider of Related Instruction for numerous New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) Registered Apprenticeships.

SUNY Ulster is also a trusted partner for local employers, offering customized employee training programs. Since 1982, SUNY Ulster has served as a training resource for businesses, manufacturers, and non-profit organizations in areas such as human resources, computer proficiency, and management development. The Office of Continuing and Professional Education also collaborates with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to provide driving programs.

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides no cost, confidential advisement services for exciting businesses and start-up entrepreneurs, and is funded by the SBA, SUNY Ulster, and other sponsors.  The SBDC also services the Mid-Hudson region from satellite offices located throughout the Mid-Hudson region.  More information is available here.
