Program Description
This credential consists of two courses:
MFG 109 Fundamental Concepts of Metrology
MFG 101 Certified Production Technician - CPT
This credential is stackable into the Manufacturing Certificate program. Students may take this Micro-Credential as credit bearing or non-credit bearing.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship Micro-Credential, students will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
- Correctly interpret technical drawings for basic mechanical parts and assemblies
- Perform the basic measurements, calculations, and quantitative reasoning necessary in a manufacturing environment
- Describe the importance of safety practices in a manufacturing workplace
- Identify common quality systems and procedures found in manufacturing facilities including quality charts, technical drawings, and precision measurement tools
- Identify common manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment and explain basic production planning and workflow
- Describe the importance of preventative and predictive maintenance and common maintenance requirements in a manufacturing environment
Employment Potential
This Micro-Credential prepares students to be ready to enter the workforce at an entry level manufacturing position or as an apprentice in one of the advanced manufacturing trades.
