Advanced Manufacturing Pre-apprenticeship Microcredential


Program Description

This credential consists of two courses:

 

MFG 109   Fundamental Concepts of Metrology 

MFG 101   Certified Production Technician - CPT 

This credential is stackable into the Manufacturing Certificate program.  Students may take this Microcredential as credit bearing or non-credit bearing.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship Microcredential, students will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

  • Correctly interpret technical drawings for basic mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Perform the basic measurements, calculations, and quantitative reasoning necessary in a manufacturing environment
  • Describe the importance of safety practices in a manufacturing workplace
  • Identify common quality systems and procedures found in manufacturing facilities including quality charts, technical drawings, and precision measurement tools
  • Identify common manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment and explain basic production planning and workflow
  • Describe the importance of preventative and predictive maintenance and common maintenance requirements in a manufacturing environment

Employment Potential

This Microcredential prepares students to be ready to enter the workforce at an entry level manufacturing position or as an apprentice in one of the advanced manufacturing trades.
