CHE 101 - Introductory Chemistry I 4 cr. The essential facts, laws, principles, and theories of chemistry are presented in this course. Topics include fundamentals of measurement, the mole concept and stoichiometry, basic thermochemistry, kinds of matter, atomic theory, chemical formulas and equations, gas laws, and elementary molecular theory and bonding. This course requires use of a scientific calculator and purchase of safety goggles for lab use. 3 hrs. lect.; 3 hrs. lab. Lab fee. This course is recommended for those wanting to go on to the traditional General Chemistry sequence (CHE 103 and CHE 104).Pre and/or Corequisite: MAT 110 or MAT 115 or higher.
