VTS 258 - Exotic Animal Care and Diseases 3 cr. This course will cover the assessment of patient behavior and vital signs, care, recognition of common diseases of exotic animals, feeding and grooming of normal and healthy patients, hospital care for sick animals, administration of medicines and fluids, bandaging, and a wide variety of other nursing procedures. Species studied will include birds, reptiles, rabbits, and rodents. VTS 258 Exotic Animal Care and Diseases primate laboratory requires students to be negative for tuberculosis (TB). The TB test can be performed at your physician’s office or the College nurses office. The test must be performed within one month of attending the lab. 2 hrs. lect.; clinical training off campus.
