NYSED Code: 36387

Program Description

The Certificate in Entrepreneurship is designed to provide students with the skills needed to create, launch and manage a small business or to work within an entrepreneurial venture. Aspiring entrepreneurs will learn the skills needed to hit the ground running in their quest to start a successful business.

Totaling 25‐26 credits, the first semester consists of courses in accounting, business communications, entrepreneurship, and the legal environment of business; the second semester includes courses in mathematics for business, computerized accounting (Quickbooks), advertising, and a capstone course that will result in a business plan worthy of submission for funding. All the courses listed in the certificate can be transferred to SUNY Ulster’s A.A.S. degree in Business and Entrepreneurial Studies or A.A.S. degree in Business: Accounting, either as part of the core curriculum or as electives.

The Entrepreneurship faculty are real world business professionals and members of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship. And, you’ll benefit from SUNY Ulster’s Darlene L. Pfeiffer Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, which develops collaborative programs and projects for students, faculty, alumni, entrepreneurs, business leaders and government agencies.

Whether you want to open a traditional storefront, a home operation, an online venture, or simply learn the foundations of business, this certificate equips you with the knowledge and skills you need.
